About Our Founder

Hawa Johnson, is a native of Philadelphia, who is married to her best friend and loving husband. They have one daughter and one son, who is a Senior Airman in the United States Airforce. Hawa holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Villanova University and has been a pediatric registered nurse (RN) for over 18 years. Hawa and her family currently reside in Williamstown, New Jersey.

For 18 years, Hawa served as the Director and Choreographer of a prominent church in the South Jersey region, overseeing youth and adult dancers, ages 5-70 years old. Under her leadership, the dance ministry (of over 100 collective members), flourished and helped to empower the spiritual well-being and improve the creative worship of hundreds of women and children. With her passion for teaching and developing, Hawa facilitated and hosted worship arts conferences and mini workshops, effectively empowering and equipping others with tools needed to creatively minister the Word of God through dance and mime.

In 2013, Hawa founded Living Empowered, Inc. in Sicklerville New Jersey, a non-profit empowerment organization dedicated to impacting, inspiring, and connecting women of various ages and backgrounds to live a life of value, purpose, influence, and success. In 2017, Living Empowered, Inc. obtained 501©3 status and expanded to now include teen girls. Through bi-monthly empowerment discussions, support, and network opportunities, Living Empowered, Inc. assists teen girls and women in unlocking and maximizing their full potential in God. Hawa’s passion for developing, empowering, and unlocking the creative potential in others has led her to release a Living Empowered thought-provoking blog and her “Thought for the week” devotionals (livingempoweredblog.wordpress.com). Through personal reflections and transparent thoughts, Hawa uses her thought-provoking writings to inspire and empower others to transition past their limitations and unleash their full potential in God. She is passionate about using her creativity to inspire and motivate others and has also authored her first book of empowering devotionals. She stands firm, believing that “the God who started this great work in you, WILL continue to perfect and complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
